Actor Tom Hopper (Game of Thrones / Black Sails / The Umbrella Academy) is coming to Ghent!

FACTS welcomes its next guest actor (April 6-7 in Flanders Expo)

When looking at Tom Hopper's acting career, the word 'skyrocket' comes to mind. Especially when your 'humble beginnings' lie in top-notch series like Doctor Who and when you've been a part of huge productions such as Game of Thrones, Black Sails, Merlin and the recent Netflix hit series The Umbrella Academy. FACTS is therefore honoured to announce Tom Hopper as its next guest actor for its Spring Edition, on April 6-7 in Flanders Expo Ghent.

Although an actor from the year 1985 is considered pretty young in the actor world, Tom Hopper's track record is certainly nothing to snease at. To name just a few big productions: Game of Thrones, Doctor Who, the very enjoyable 2008 Merlin series, Black Sails and The Umbrella Academy, together with Ellen Page.

The Umbrella Academy is a new Netflix hype, an adaptation of the comic series by Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá. Tom Hopper beautifully portrays Luther Hargreeves, aka Number 1 / Space Guy, the man with superhuman strength. It's as if he's never done anything else but perform in lead roles.

He has of course had lots of practice in Black Sails, where he had the lead role of Billy Bones for 4 seasons straight, and in Merlin, where he portrayed the famous medieval knight character Sir Percival from 2010 until the end of the series in 2012.

In the massive production of Game of Thrones, he convincingly portrays Dickon Tarly, brother of Samwell Tarly, in season 7.

FACTS, Your Belgian Comic Con, is not just a convention, it’s another dimension. FACTS is the biggest pop culture event of the Benelux that brings together the best of movies, series, games and superheroes, allows all its aspects to spring to life and unites a wide array of pop culture fans.

Twice a year, the FACTS Flagship docks at the halls of Flanders Expo in Ghent to present its riches in the form of world-famous actors, international comic artists, thousands of fans dressed up as fictional characters, 54.000 m² of surprising activities, and 250+ exhibitors with geeky merchandise and collector’s items. 

FACTS has been around since 1993 and has 30 years of know-how in the comic con world. On top of that, this event is backed by ‘Heroes’, a European network of 9 pop culture events spread across Belgium, The Netherlands, and Sweden. The Belgian event ‘Made in Asia’, for example, is one of those sibling events.

The 2023 editions will be held on 6-7 April and 2-3 November, in Flanders Expo Ghent. If you’re even remotely a fan of fantasy, science fiction, comics, anime, cosplay, video games, board games, films and TV series, then FACTS is a phenomenon that should be on your bucket list.
